The Steam Hotel - Spa by night

04/04/2018

An old steam power plant built 100 years ago and transformed into a 18 stories hotel at lake Mälaren. More than 200 bedrooms, 800 m² , restaurant on the roof, bar and outdoor pool on the terrace, this is the place that becomes a destination for those who want a real experience and don't settle for "good enough".

Why is this place so special? It's plenty of hotels with a spa but what's special here is that first you have dinner, and then you spend the rest of the night at the spa, not the way around. Still skeptic? Do you still want to end your night
with music and cocktail? No problem, here you'll find a bar with music, cocktails and snacks, to enjoy comfortably in your bathing suit or robe, with
the view of the lake of course.

This is our experience!

Kids with the grandparents, we checked in an early afternoon. We walked the green velvet carpet that led us to the reception which represents the style of this building: original elements like bricks combined with an industrial romantic style, enriched by details in wood, glass and velvet.

We took the elevator (in glass), walked through a corridor with dark walls, black carpets and soft lights and reached our bedroom at the 15th floor. a
fantastic room was waiting for us, a modern style but combine with original elements like metal and wood. The furniture was dark, with gold details and black and white pictures representing the story of the factory.

A bottle of Prosecco was waiting for us as well.

Late in the afternoon we reached the restaurant Top Floor at the 18th floor for drink and dinner. First a Spritz and then a dinner which was a visual and culinary experience: an Asian menu rich of special colors and flavor, surrounded by an atmosphere that delights the soul. The dinner ended with a mix of desserts and Nikka (Japanese Whiskey).

Later it was time to change the dresses and wear our bathing suites and the slippers and robe sponsored by the hotel. Direction Spa: the Voltage Lounge.

What did we see? At the entrance you get a towel then you are free to take any direction you want. We went directly to the bar which was furnished with chaise longues and pillows. We grabbed a cocktail and we sipped it in the outdoor pool. The temperature outside was below zero, in the water 30. In front of us the city by night and the frozen lake.

The evening continued in another lounge where there were king size beds (for relax only, what were you thinking?) and in the middle a huge fire place.

Then we moved to another area of the spa with a pool and the sauna.

The day after we went downstairs to the other restaurant for a high class breakfast. There were sofas that someone described as "pink Savoiardi cookies". Even here the interior left us speechless!

Before the check out my hubby went to the gym and I wandered with my cameras for some shots.

What else can I say?

Steam Hotel, thank you for this unforgettable experience and... see you soon!
